LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is green building and the most widely used rating system in the world with its globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. This system is transforming the way we design, build, maintain and operate our buildings and is certifying 1.5 million square feet of building space each day and more than 54,000 projects, comprising over 10.1 billion square feet of construction space. LEED is available for virtually all buildings, communities and home project types; while it provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings.
Green building guidelines require accurate reporting of the waste what is generated on a monthly basis. Our American Disposal Service experts in LEED can assist achieving your project certification or individual credits and simplify your process. As we identify, track and document your waste amount and material type. We will also provide you with a final report detailing all major waste streams from the project and disposal to what will be recycled and what diverted.
A janitorial team will come to your location and collect all the waste and recycling in a single container. It will then bring the entire waste stream to a loading dock at various debris recycling centers within the region where the material gets weighed.
When the materials arrive at Recycling Centers, non-recycled items are being sorted first. A detailed categorization process is being used to catalog the material types within your waste stream and each material type is weighed.
We will capture photos and all necessary data to begin our reporting process. We will determine your actual diversion rate and contamination rate. We will assess the amount of waste material and type that could have been diverted from landfills or incinerators.
A representative will meet and review your results that includes a statistic about your buildings waste stream and photos of the entire process. It will also contain suggestions on steps to improve recycling, waste diversion, waste reduction, and source reduction.
